Work With Dylan

When I tell people about either my education, or how I help people, often I get the question, “Yes, but what do you DO exactly?”

I understand the confusion.  What I do varies because my services are tailored to each person or family that I am working with. Every situation is unique, therefore my approach is also. Working with me brings you what YOU need, not my own agenda for what I think you need.  However, there are some common philosophies, skills and understandings that I bring to each relationship.

And that’s really the core of what I offer you: A relationship.

More personal than a book, more involved than a counselor, and more objective than friends and family, I  take the time to really learn about you, and your family in order to help you know yourself as a parent, and understand and effectively respond to your baby.

I come with the philosophy that our culture does not fully support parents, and parents are unhelpfully bombarded with conflicting information from a multitude of sources. In the midst of all the rights and wrongs you are being told, it can be very hard to find your own truth of who you are as a parent and stand solidly in that truth. It can make it all the more difficult if you are additionally struggling with issues originating from a traumatic birth, or stressful pregnancy, and even your own unresolved personal history. Gently and compassionately I can help you feel whole and connected, both within yourself and in the context of your family.

My services:

  • Birth Doula Services - support for you and your partner, and advocacy for your baby during labor and delivery. My goal is that your birth experience have the best outcome possible, and you never feel alone or lacking.
  • Post Partum Doula Services – help with household chores, meal preparation and newborn care, older sibling care, and parenting guidance. There is no reason for you to question yourself, or feel overwhelm in these first few weeks. My intention is to help you start your family with a strong sense of confidence and love.

The fields of psychology, early brain development, and medical science are all finding out more and more just how important our early experiences are to long-term health. We are learning that what happens to us both emotionally and physically affects how our brain grows…which in turn affects our emotional health, relationships, social skills, academic skills, as well as our physical long-term health. It pays to invest the time and energy and money now, to optimize the future of your child and your family.

I can work with you both in person if you live locally, but also over the phone/webcam if you live further away for parenting support.

The majority of my clients have been long distance, and most of them prefer over the phone work.  Either way, I take the time to be accessible and fully present for you and your family in the way that works best for you. Regularly scheduled meetings and unlimited email support provide us with a structure that supports you and your family. I often work in the off hours, to accommodate nap and work schedules.
